Purpose:
The Accounting Manager oversees the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger functions and is responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of financial reporting. This position provides leadership and guidance to multiple accounting managers while maintaining oversight of daily accounting operations and issue resolution. The role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, systems, and internal controls in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Functions:
Leadership & Team Management
* Directly manage and mentor the AR, AP, and GL Accounting Managers
* Set clear expectations, review performance, and support professional development
* Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented accounting culture
Financial Reporting & Review
* Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for accuracy and completeness
* Ensure timely close processes and adherence to established deadlines
* Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
* Assist with variance analysis and provide explanations to leadership
Operational Oversight
* Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across AR, AP, and GL
* Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and procedures
* Identify and resolve complex accounting issues and escalations
Controls, Compliance & Audit
* Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
* Support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and responses
* Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready
Process Improvement & Systems
* Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and reduce risk
* Partner with finance, operations, and IT on system enhancements and implementations
* Support accounting-related SOP development and maintenance
* Multi-system oversight and ownership of close software
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Required
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 2-4+ years of people management experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes
• Advanced Excel skills
Preferred
• CPA or CMA
• Experience in healthcare, senior living, or multi-entity environments
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Yardi, Quick Books, etc.)
Working Conditions:
This position is primarily office-based with extended periods of time spent working at a computer and reviewing financial data. The role may require occasional extended hours during month-end close, audits, or other critical reporting periods. Minimal travel may be required to support accounting operations or attend meetings as needed
Physical/Sensory Requirements:
This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time and frequently use a computer, keyboard, and other standard office equipment. The position involves visual acuity to review financial reports, analyze data, and identify discrepancies with accuracy and attention to detail. Occasional standing, walking, and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing are required
