Under general supervision, the Forklift Operator will ensure safe and accurate receipt, storage, and shipment of food products utilizing equipment including, but not limited to, sit‑down and stand‑up forklifts, high‑reach forklifts, stand‑up straddle trucks, walk‑behind units, pallet jacks, double pallet jacks and radio‑frequency equipment.
What You’ll Do- Efficiently and safely load and unload freight using proper equipment to move products to storage throughout the facility.
- Effectively stack and store merchandise; pick and assemble orders for shipment; check freight for accuracy, damage, and infestation; label, sort, wrap, pack, and repack as directed by management.
- Operate equipment in compliance with OSHA standards to promote safety.
- Meet production standards while maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
- Perform other duties such as inventory, cleaning, forklift battery changes, and additional tasks as needed.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Three (3) months of related work experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently.
- Willingness to work overtime, evenings, or weekends and adhere to attendance policies.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
To perform this job successfully, employees must be able to perform essential functions and meet the physical requirements listed below:
- Work in spaces with 55 inches of headroom.
- Tolerate controlled temperatures ranging from 32°F to –45°F, and variable outdoor temperatures.
- Tolerate heights up to 30 ft. and access elevated products within a safety cage.
- Stand for up to 5 hours during an 8‑12‑hour shift, occasionally walk, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift boxes from 10 lb. to 55 lb. from ground level to 80 in. in height, and up to 70 lb. to 50 in. for pallet rebuilding without assistance; carry product up to 6 ft. without mechanical aid.
- Wear appropriate clothing, boots, headgear, and gloves to protect against cold.
- Use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with arms; talk or hear; maintain visual acuity (close, distance, peripheral, depth).
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and local standards.
