Job Summary

The primary function of the Route Jumper & Route Relief Operator positions is to effectively fill the role of the regular route driver in the transportation and delivery of products to HP Hood, LLC customers. This position requires a current valid CDL A, a satisfactory MVR, an up-to-date medical card, and 2-3 years’ driving experience. Route Relief Operators may be called on short notice to cover route emergencies.

Must have a neat, clean appearance and the ability to pass a DOT exam.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Route Relief Operators will be expected to learn and run all routes.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the Company vehicle while complying with all company, State and Federal regulations.
  • Have a good, working knowledge of the delivery route and be familiar with product handling requirements.
  • Must represent the Company in a courteous, ethical and professional manner at all times.
  • Must keep a vehicle operation log and report any necessary maintenance or other problems to the Distribution Supervisor daily and complete all necessary reports as required by DOT and HP Hood LLC.
  • Deliver all products ordered in a timely manner and advise the Distribution Supervisor of any recommendations for improvements or problems needing attention on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to work independently while supporting the Distribution Department.
  • Work in a cooperative manner with managers, supervisors and peers.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current, valid CDL A

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Execute assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Perform assigned duties satisfactorily and in a timely manner.

Physical Demands

Job Title:

Route Drivers/Jumpers/Specials Drivers/Transportation Drivers

Activity and frequency details are provided to describe typical movement requirements, including lifting, carrying, twisting, climbing, reaching, and pushing/pulling, and indicate where the employee may be required to work inside refrigerated environments or other climates.

Open Availability Required. Early morning start times. Ability to perform manual labor tasks required by position. Required to sit, stand, and walk.

Other Information/Physical Requirements

  • Days off vary on each route.
  • Inside work with varying climates; open availability required.
  • Cannot exceed defined weight and movement limitations without accommodations.
SQF Requirements/Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean & safe work environment.
  • Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner.
  • Support biosecurity and GMP measures.
  • Work with SQF site lead and HR to support SQF training efforts.
  • Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Backup duties are covered by other Managers when not on site.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.

The pay range for this position is $1,671.68 - $1,857.40 USD
