TOMRA North America, a top International Reverse Vending and Recycling Company, is recruiting for a Maintenance Mechanic in the Portland, ME area.

Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for repairing and maintaining all production equipment and building systems in our material handling facilities.

Shift: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Salary: $27.00 / HR

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Mechanical: Must be able to troubleshoot and repair all types of conveyor equipment and their components. Responsibilities include repairing or replacing conveyor motors, gear boxes, chain drives, rollers, belt lacing, and belts. Repairs or replacements to blower systems and counting and scanning are also required. Must be able to repair and troubleshoot hydraulic balers and baling equipment, including hydraulic valve and pump replacements, hydraulic lines and piping, mechanical devices, wire tie systems, and inserters.

    Must be able to remove and install gear boxes and chain drives, and perform all aspects of repairs to these components. Installation and alignment of all types of drives and replacement of different types of drive belts are required. Fabrication, repair, and installation of all types of guarding on material handling equipment are also necessary. Must be able to repair high-pressure air systems and their components, as well as building plumbing systems and their components, including fitting, installing, and repairing all types of piping and tubing systems (steel, plastic, brass, copper, and rubber).
  • Electrical: Must be able to troubleshoot and replace electric circuits and systems, including but not limited to motors, fuses, circuit breakers, contractors, sensing switches and devices, control wiring, and transformers. Must be able to restore production machinery from an electrical failure or fault and read schematics and drawings. Repair and replacement of failed lighting circuits and components are also required.
  • Rigging and Lifting: Must be able to use chain falls, come-alongs, hoists, lifts, and tele-handlers to safely rig and move equipment and parts or components for installation or replacement from repairs. Must know how to safely strap and use chains to secure equipment or material for lifting. Must be able to safely use hydraulic lifts and portable power units.
  • Must be able to safely and effectively use electrical test equipment, including volt meters, ammeters, ohm meters, and meggers (both digital and analog).
  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in the field of maintenance is required.
