Job Title
Diesel Mechanic 1st Shift - $5,000 Sign On Bonus
Location:
Portland, ME (Portland, ME) – WM (Worx/WM – North America’s leading provider of comprehensive waste management environmental services).
As a Diesel/CNG Mechanic at WM you will maintain a fleet of trucks and equipment, ensuring safe operation across the U.S. Your work supports over 20 million customers and contributes to WM’s mission of waste reduction and renewable energy creation.

- Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (first shift)
- No weekends
- Location:
Repair/maintenance shop at our Portland, ME hauling site
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on trucks and equipment.
- Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
- Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
- Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
- Perform safety checks on vehicles.
- Complete required documentation: parts usage, repair times, and driver vehicle inspection report entries.
- Assist senior mechanics with project work.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate/OSHA standards.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
- Physical capability to lift, push, pull, crouch, and climb; stand, walk, and grasp for extended periods.
- Ability to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Successful completion of pre‑employment drug screen and physical examination.
- Over 18 years of age.
- Team player who cares about the shop community.
- Enjoys both independent and collaborative work.
- Values variety and new challenges.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
Work involves frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing; exposure to cuts, burns, chemicals, noise, and weather extremes. Safety is WM’s top priority. Reasonable accommodations are available.
