Base pay range: $25.00/hr - $34.00/hr
This role is offered through Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC), a multi‑specialty emergency and specialty veterinary practice located in Portland, Maine. PVESC provides full‑time care in Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Dermatology, Neurology, Cardiology, and more.

This is a full‑time position.
- Monday‑Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM (final schedule will be discussed during the interview process)

As an Oncology Veterinary Technician you’ll work closely with board‑certified oncologists to support patients throughout their treatment—from diagnosis through chemotherapy and follow‑up. You’ll be a steady, compassionate presence for both patients and families.
- Administer medications and chemotherapy under the supervision of an oncologist
- Assist with diagnostics, including lab work, imaging, and CT scans
- Support oncology appointments and help manage patient flow and scheduling
- Maintain accurate medical records, treatment notes, and drug logs
- Provide empathetic client communication and education
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Radiology
- Deliver emotional support and patient‑centered care during every step of treatment
- Licensed or credentialed veterinary technician, Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS), or experienced veterinary assistant
- Experience in specialty medicine and/or oncology preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Confidence working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment
- Familiarity with veterinary medical software (e.g., Ezy Vet, Smart Flow) a plus
- A positive attitude and commitment to compassionate care
