Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Portland, ME | 13-week travel assignment at a Level I Trauma Center. Seeking perioperative / surgical nurses with 2+ years of recent OR experience, Epic EMR proficiency, and robotics competency for high-acuity cases.

  • Start Date: January 25, 2026
  • End Date: April 25, 2026
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Shift Length: 12-hour days
  • Hours per Week: 36 (guaranteed)
  • Weekend Rotation: 1 in 4 weekends (12-hour shifts)
  • Call Requirements: One overnight trauma call (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM); additional call per specialty team rules (Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular, Neuro, Ortho)
  • Unit Details: 26-bed Operating Room; 1:1 patient ratio
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,300 – $2,420 (estimated; varies by experience and qualifications)
  • EMR: Epic (experience with Epic charting preferred)
  • Dress Code: Teal scrubs provided by hospital
Job Requirements – OR RN / Surgical Nurse Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Maine
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience (Level I trauma experience required; 3 years preferred)
  • Competency with robotics (DaVinci Xi) and advanced procedures: PCNLs, nephrectomies, ureteral reimplants, hysterectomies, cystectomies, colpocleisis, hysteroscopies, ureteroscopies
  • Comfortable caring for patients across the lifespan (pediatrics to geriatrics)
  • CNOR certification preferred (perioperative certification a plus)
  • Strong teamwork, flexibility, accountability, and timeliness in high-acuity surgical settings
Responsibilities – Perioperative / Surgical Nursing Duties
  • Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care across the surgical continuum: pre-op, intra-op, and post-op handoffs
  • Support a broad range of surgical specialties:
    Gynecology, Genitourinary, Ortho trauma, Neurosurgery, ENT, Pediatrics, Plastics, Dental, and Endovascular
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced OR equipment (Storz, Stryker, Olympus) and Intuitive robotic platforms (DaVinci)
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure efficient room turnover and optimal patient outcomes
  • Adhere to sterile technique, infection prevention standards, and hospital policies
  • Accurately document patient care and surgical events in Epic EMR
  • Participate in scheduled weekend rotations and required call coverage as part of the trauma team
