Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night position requiring expertise in telemetry interpretation and stroke patient care.
Responsibilities
• Work in a hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit primarily on night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am
• Unit specializes in medical telemetry and stroke patient care with an average census of 37 beds
• Night shift nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1:5 to 1:6
• Expected to float to any Med/Surg Telemetry unit and may float between facilities within a 25-mile radius as needed
• Every other weekend shifts required
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Responsible for providing specialized nursing care to medical telemetry and stroke patients
• Team-oriented work environment with support for collaboration and open feedback
• No on-call responsibilities
• Follow professional dress code: no hoodies, tight clothing, fragrances, or v-necks; hair must be up, plugged piercings/gauges not allowed
• No use of personal devices permitted on the unit
• Local candidates within 90 miles of any Maine Health facility are considered local and may have different compensation terms
• Returning employees must disclose employment at any Maine Health facility within the last 12 months
• Holiday coverage is required as assigned
• Travel pairs or groups are not permitted for this position
Requirements
• Active ME or compact state RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Ability to read telemetry strips and care for patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
• Current BLS certification required
• Experience with dilt, amiodarone, insulin, Lasix, and bumex drips, as well as chest tubes, vacuum dressings, cardiac catheterizations, and pacemakers
• Must provide valid Driver’s License at time of consideration
