The Philanthropy Specialist – BBCH role performs a combination of event and national Children's Miracle Network Hospital's campaign execution, direct solicitations, portfolio management, and administrative functions.
Under the direction of the Maine Health Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital Philanthropy Manager, the Philanthropy Specialist will join a fast‐paced, mission‑driven team raising funds to benefit children cared for at Maine’s only full‑service children’s hospital. The individual will perform a variety of local event and national Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaign executions, direct solicitations, portfolio management, and some administrative functions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: growing a portfolio of national programs and partnerships by meeting or surpassing set targets annually, including financial; creating and editing promotional materials; producing high‑quality written content; developing recognition plans for assigned programs and partners; recruiting dedicated volunteers and leading volunteer programs, as appropriate; cultivating and building relationships with new donors, volunteers, and program supporters through regular field visits, face‑to‑face, and/or virtual meetings.
This position is office based in Portland, with the potential in the future to work some days at home contingent on performance. The work schedule for this position includes regular evening and weekend work, travel across Maine and New Hampshire (must have personal vehicle), as well as twice‑annual travel to CMN Hospitals national conferences. The position requires independent thinking, the ability to multi‑task, public speaking, and excellent organizational skills.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.

Five years of philanthropy experience preferred which includes planning events, direct solicitations, volunteer coordination and donor relations. One year of working fundraising events required.
