WSP is currently seeking a Lead Environmental Project Manager to join the team in our Portland, ME office, supporting a diverse portfolio of environmental investigation and remediation projects. The successful candidate will support management of public and private sector environmental projects primarily in the northeast. This is a growth-oriented position for aspiring project managers with a goal of independently managing projects within 18 to 24 months.
Your Impact
As a Lead Environmental Project Manager you will assist assigned Project Managers in directing project execution, advising on technical direction, interfacing with Clients and stakeholders, and delivering high-quality results on time and within budget. Specific responsibilities of this role include:
* Anticipating Project Manager and Client needs to ensure smooth and high-quality project delivery.
* Monitoring project costs, risks, and schedule to support the Project Manager with meeting projects objectives.
* Participating in internal management briefings on project statuses.
* Assisting Project Managers in the preparation of monthly reporting and billing to customers and timely payment collection.
* Pre-project task planning, scheduling, and resourcing.
* Managing procurement strategy for subcontracted scope elements and working with Task Leads to manage subcontractor performance.
* Solving complex technical and logistical challenges with project execution.
* Collaborating with multi-disciplinary project team members to address client goals and objectives.
* Ensuring quality of project deliverables.
* Participating in proposal efforts.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
* BS or MS in Engineering, Geology or Environmental Science
* 7 to 10 years task management or assistant project management experience with a focus on environmental investigations and remediation, including coordinating subcontractors
* Registered Professional Engineer, Licensed Geologist, Project Management Professional or equivalent credential preferred
* Self-motivated problem solver with high attention to detail
* Strong communication, report writing, and presentation skills
* Ability to interact with clients and stakeholders in a professional and ethical manner
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team
* Must have a driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
* Ability and willingness to travel to project sites (20% travel anticipated).
