Why You’ll Love This RoleAs a Medical Assistant in Physiatry and Procedures at Orthopaedic Associates of Maine, you’ll support our expert physiatrist by assisting with patient evaluations, pain management treatments, and image-guided procedures. This role is ideal for someone who loves direct patient interaction, enjoys a mix of clinical and procedural responsibilities, and is passionate about helping patients regain mobility and function.
What You’ll Do- Welcome and room patients, ensuring comfort and readiness for their visit
- Obtain vital signs, medical history, and intake details for provider review
- Assist with a wide range of procedures, including injections and other interventional treatments
- Educate patients on post-procedure care, medications, and treatment plans
- Document accurately and efficiently in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Prepare and maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment
- Support providers during exams and procedures, ensuring smooth workflow and patient safety
- Collaborate closely with physiatrists, NP/PAs, and fellow team members to deliver outstanding care
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent clinical certification
- BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire)
- Prior healthcare or medical office experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient-focused care
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced setting
- Comfort with EMR systems and basic computer skills
