Overview

Join Orthopaedic Associates of Maine as a Medical Office Assistant in the Hand/Foot/Ankle Department. We are seeking a Medical Office Assistant to help ensure a seamless, high-quality experience for our patients. You’ll work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), and staff to coordinate patient care, manage scheduling, and assist with essential administrative functions in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

• Greet and assist patients and families with professionalism and compassion, in person and over the phone.
• Prepare and maintain patient charts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Schedule appointments and manage prior authorizations for imaging and procedures.
• Act as a key point of contact between patients, providers, and insurance carriers.
• Monitor and follow up on patient communications, voicemails, and medical records requests.
• Support clinic operations by handling correspondence, processing disability forms, and coordinating documentation.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (healthcare experience preferred, especially in orthopaedics)
• Strong administrative and organizational skills with keen attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, physicians, and staff
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• A compassionate, team-oriented mindset with a passion for helping others
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a busy clinic setting
