Entry‑Level Transportation/Civil Engineers

A growing engineering consultancy is seeking Entry‑Level Transportation/Civil Engineers to join the expanding Portland, ME office. This location has been open for less than a year and is experiencing rapid growth, with several seats already filled and room for approximately five additional early‑career engineers.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who want exposure across a wide range of transportation and civil engineering projects, including highway, roadway, traffic, and land development
, while working closely with municipal and state agency clients. Because of the firm's collaborative culture and size, you won't be siloed—engineers gain broad experience from planning through construction, with opportunities to grow technically and professionally.
- Collaborate with staff, clients, and stakeholders to support transportation and civil engineering projects.
- Assist with conceptual and final design for municipal and state agency projects.
- Prepare construction plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for bidding.
- Support the development of environmental and permitting documentation at local and state levels.
- Participate in QA/QC activities, project coordination, meetings, and public engagement tasks.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self‑starter with the ability to manage tasks independently.
- Detail‑oriented with strong initiative and motivation.
- Experience with AutoCAD, 3D design tools, and/or Hydro
CAD is a plus. - Experience with Micro Station/Open Roads Designer is highly desirable.
- BS in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 0‑5 years of experience
; ideal for entry‑level candidates. - EIT certification is a plus but not required.
