Location: ME - Portland or ME - Augusta
Work-Type: OFFICE
Salary Range: Base salary ranges from $87,600 to $109,500, depending on experience and location.
Job Summary: This position is part of a diverse team of utility experts tasked with creating and executing a best-in-class T&S asset planning strategy across Avangrid. The role utilizes practical and analytic knowledge to perform needs and solution studies on T&S assets at all voltage levels, including the development of mitigating projects and programs.
Key Responsibilities- Execution of the Avangrid Asset Management initiative.
- Decision‑making and navigation of T&S projects through the investment planning process from inception through construction, including technical oversight of all projects.
- Research, development, refinement, and execution of an industry‑leading T&S asset planning strategy.
- Ensure T&S asset condition needs across Avangrid are identified, prioritized, and addressed with appropriate mitigating solutions.
- Centralized oversight and coordination of the T&S capital project portfolio to support prudent CAPEX decisions.
- Anticipate, prepare, and initiate strategy discussions and activities to meet regulator, customer, and stakeholder expectations.
- Build collaborative relationships with regulators and ISO’s by ensuring thoughtful, prudent, and well‑documented proposals.
- Technical Skills/Competencies
- Theoretical engineering knowledge: planning, operations, design, analytics, modeling & calculation, understanding the business model.
- Practical engineering experience: planning, operations, design, construction, field experience, standardization, business‑case development.
- Engineering documentation: ability to document and interpret engineering documentation, review, and approve work by others.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance environment (NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC, etc.).
- Functional / Job / Business–Specific Competencies
- Perform, direct, or collaborate on all aspects of T&S asset analysis to inform investment decisions.
- Communicate, influence, and motivate across management levels with strong verbal and written skills.
- Predict needs and develop solutions, prioritizing system‑wide solutions based on risk, value, and complexity.
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, or structural engineering with 2‑5 years of experience.
- Experience in distribution planning, design, operations, asset management, or maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to provide significant value as a collaborative team member in complex problems affecting the transmission business.
