Working Pattern:
Hybrid (2-3 days per week onsite)
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Electronics Test Engineer to join a high-performing engineering and manufacturing team supporting the delivery of high-quality electronic products and systems within the defence sector.
This role is ideal for a hands-on test engineer with strong fault-finding skills who enjoys working to high standards and tight deadlines on complex, high-profile projects.
Reporting to the Functional Lead, you will play a key role in production inspection, testing, and verification of electronic modules, units, and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Perform IPC-level inspections of electronic assemblies during production and prior to testing
Execute and document formal test procedures, recording results for hardware, software, and firmware configurations
Carry out fault finding and diagnosis down to component level
Take accurate measurements using a range of electronic test equipment
Record and report defects, discrepancies, and test documentation issues
Maintain a safe, clean, and organised test and assembly environment
Ensure work is completed to required quality standards and deadlines
Maintain accurate test records and system narratives
Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve issues
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum 3 years' experience in a technical test or electronics test role
Experience working on defence-related projects
IPC inspection certification
BTEC / ONC / HNC / HND in Electronics or equivalent
Strong experience using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, function generators, multimeters, and power supplies
Proven fault-finding and repair skills for analogue and digital electronics
Ability to read and interpret electronic and mechanical drawings
Knowledge of electronic components and basic electrical/electronic requirements
Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable producing detailed technical documentation
Proficient with Microsoft Office / Office 365
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (or already SC Cleared)
Desirable Skills
Advanced rework and track repair skills
Component-level fault finding
Strong understanding of circuit diagrams
Creative and "out-of-the-box" problem-solving approach
