Controls Manager

Job Description

The Controls Manager will oversee a team of 4-6 Controls Engineers and 3-4 Controls Designers. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with team development and project oversight. The ideal candidate brings strong PLC/PC-based controls experience along with proven leadership skills and the ability to mentor and grow a diverse technical team.

Principal Accountabilities

• Develop PC- and PLC-based control systems for custom continuous process and material handling equipment
• Lead development of controls platforms that integrate multiple equipment systems and interface with customer networks and ERP systems
• Verify operation of finished equipment prior to customer release to ensure controls meet specifications
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer control issues domestically and internationally (on-site and remotely)
• Apply electrical engineering principles to support system performance and reliability
• Stay current with advancements in electrical controls technology
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the VP of Engineering

Requirements

• Proven experience managing and developing a diverse team, including hiring
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles
• Experience with PLC and PC programming;
  Allen-Bradley and Siemens preferred
• Knowledge of industrial networks, HMI development, and motion control systems
• Indusoft and Ignition experience a plus
• 1-3+ years of experience in computer systems
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
