QUALIFICATIONS
* Hold a current Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement.
* Demonstrated special education teaching experience.
* Knowledge of federal and state Special Education law and compliance requirements.
* Demonstrated experience with inclusionary models of service delivery and collaboration.
* Experience with universal screening, progress monitoring, and data-based decision-making.
* Knowledge of Autism and medically complex student needs.
* Assist the school administrator or designee in developing training for para educators in the core curriculum areas.
* Experience developing and implementing IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
* Knowledge of core curriculum and state standards with ability to modify for diverse learners.
* Experience implementing evidence-based instructional practices and specially designed instruction.
* Outstanding communication skills, flexibility, ability to work in teams, and sense of humor.
* Experience with assistive technology and instructional technology tools.
* Commitment to person-fist language, shared ownership of students, and inclusive practices
* Knowledge of or willingness to learn basic sign language preferred.
* Knowledge and experience with project or place-based learning preferred.
* Demonstrated knowledge of elementary curriculum and tiered interventions.
* Demonstrated knowledge of secondary curriculum and tiered interventions.
* Demonstrated knowledge of highly capable students, in grades K-12.
* Demonstrated ability to use a variety of instructional and assessment strategies to measure instructional and program effectiveness and the ability to adapt instruction, curriculum, and program to meet a wide range of student abilities.
* Demonstrated ability to manage information, and to keep precise and accurate records and other forms of documentation.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) in general/special education settings as outlined in IEPs.
* Communicate regularly with general education teachers and para educators to provide strategies enabling them to deliver SDI within their classrooms.
* Support implementation of accommodations/modifications in advance through collaborative planning.
* Monitor to ensure that accommodations are being delivered consistently by general education staff.
* Promote student independence by coaching staff to avoid over-reliance on adult proximity support.
* Support collaborative academic and behavioral interventions serving all students who need them.
* Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in partnership with families and school teams.
* Maintain compliance with timeline, documentation, and progress reporting requirements.
* Plan and support transitions between programs and grade levels.
* Collaborate with other agencies as needed.
* Facilitate Accelerated Learning Plans.
* Coordinate Multidisciplinary Team Meetings to differentiate instruction for Highly Capable learners.
* Provide community outreach and information about Multilingual and Highly Capable programs.
* Participate in staff functions, committees, and meetings.

Bargaining Unit:

Salary Range: DOE, 2025-26 $ 61,500-$119,584 for a 1.0 FTE
Note:
Salary range for the 2026-27 school year will be updated when available.
Salary will be pro-rated to reflect a .8 FTE position
BENEFITS:
Benefits include Sick Leave, Personal Leave, Medical, Dental, Vision, AD&D, and Basic Life insurance coverages. Retirement is through the WA State Department of Retirement, plans available: TERS Plan 2 or TERS Plan 3.
