Summary

A part-time (22hrs) Scheme Support Officer in a well-established young person’s Supported Accommodation service in Neath. You will be working on a rolling rota basis which includes working days, evenings, weekend availability and sleep-in shifts.

About

The Role

This is a Scheme Support Officer role based in our Young Persons Supported accommodation service, Clarewood, Neath. Working in a team, you will provide support to a range of young people aged 16-25 who are homeless and aim to gain independence. You will act as a first point of contact and a role model. You will build positive relationships by helping our young people transition into independent living.

Day

To Day Duties
  • Applying for appropriate permanent accommodation
  • Facilitating activities that could include basic DIY, independent living skills learning, craft making, group discussions, fundraising, gardening, decorating, games, quizzes, fitness and film nights
  • Connecting with external partners in Neath to include social services and youth services that offer support and engagement for young people
  • Administrative tasks, keeping and updating accurate records
  • Supporting with access to ICT, employment, education and volunteering opportunities

Our young people may have led traumatic lives and as a result could display a range of complex behaviours and needs. These could include alcohol and substance misuse, poor mental health or learning difficulties, poor experience of careers/education and may have offending behaviour. The scheme provides 24-hour support for young people to build and develop their skills and confidence.

Part of your role will also include sleep-in shifts at the scheme, where you will be provided with a secluded area with access to bathroom and kitchen facilities. Full list of duties can be found on the Job description.

Pay and Pensions
  • £24,531.00 FTE (£12.75 per hour) – this is a part time position (22hrs)
  • Sleep-in rate: £62.64 per 8 hour shift
