We are looking for a Head of Project Performance and Controls to join our Senior Leadership Team for a major industrial transformation project in South Wales. This is a pivotal role, responsible for designing and implementing the project controls framework that ensures delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.
You will lead a multi‑disciplinary team and oversee contractors providing project controls support, enabling strong governance and daily visibility of progress across cost, schedule, risk, and change management.
What you will do- Develop and maintain project controls frameworks covering cost, schedule, risk, change, document control, and performance reporting.
- Standardise tools, processes, and templates across the programme.
- Establish cost and schedule baselines, deploy cost estimating, forecasting, Earned Value Management (EVM), and schedule tracking using tools like Primavera P6.
- Implement robust risk and opportunity management processes and lead change control.
- Deliver daily, weekly, and monthly performance reporting, variance analysis, and executive dashboards for senior stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor a team of cost controllers, schedulers, risk analysts, and document controllers.
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, engineering, and supply chain teams, representing project controls at governance forums and audits.
- Support tender submissions through cost modelling, schedule planning, and risk estimation.
- Significant leadership experience in project controls on large‑scale UK infrastructure or energy projects.
- Advanced knowledge of planning and scheduling tools (Primavera P6), cost control, forecasting, EVM, risk management, and document control.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with the ability to influence decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable at senior and board level.
- Proven track record managing multi‑million‑pound budgets and driving commercial outcomes.
- Familiarity with UK NEC and FIDIC contracts.
- Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction, or related field.
- Demonstrable competence in managing multi‑million pound budgets and driving commercial outcomes.
