Position Overview
Prior consideration applicants will be considered. The governing body of Abbey Primary School wishes to appoint a caretaker to join a hard‑working team committed to the school, families and community. The person appointed must be dedicated to fulfilling the role with the needs of the children at the forefront and be passionate about the vision of staff and governors.
Start date:
As soon as possible after appointment process/relevant checks complete.
Hours:
20 hours per week over a 2‑week rota/52 weeks per year.
- Open and close the school.
- Manage health and safety matters.
- Carry out maintenance tasks and liaise with management staff to ensure works are carried out for the smooth running of the school.
- Work flexibly with the needs of the children during school and outside school hours.
- Week one – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 7 am‑11 am and 2 pm‑6 pm.
- Week two – Thursday, Friday 7 am‑11 am and 2 pm‑6 pm.
- Practical skills and pride in work.
- Initiative and ability to work independently.
- Rigorously assessed safer recruitment.
- Enhanced Check (child’s list) from the Disclosure & Barring Service.
- Ability to work flexibly in and outside of school hours.
