The Selection Center Coordinator is responsible to maintain the Criminal Justice Institute Region XI Selection Center under FDLE and College policies and procedures. Coordinate daily operations of the Pearson Vue Testing Lab in accordance with both FDLE and College policies. Represent the Region XI Selection Center as the FDLE Security Liaison. Conduct comprehensive interviews with prospective students for the purpose of identifying incomplete or disqualifying information.
Conduct CVSAs with prospective students for the purpose of identifying incomplete or disqualifying information. Review all received documentation related to prospective students for completeness and eligibility for admission to law enforcement and correctional officer basic recruit academies in accordance with FDLE policies. Coordinate with local and statewide public safety agencies Recruiting/Human Resources/Background Investigators for recruiting and processing purposes.
Responsibilities:
- Guide prospective students through the Selection Center process;
Maintain applicant files in accordance with CJSTC, FDLE and College requirements; - Work with Criminal Justice faculty and staff in coordinating the education and training schedule for processing applicants;
- Communicate with the Criminal Justice Institute Director regarding Selection Center Appeals, concerns and updates;
- Monitor the Selection Center annual budget and spending;
- Attend local public safety agency Background Investigators Meetings as a representative of the training center;
- Schedule and coordinate all training center Academy Orientations;
- Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or closely related field; and/or
- Minimum of five (5) years of recent office management experience, preferably in a criminal justice setting.
- Proven working knowledge of the following:
Florida Department of Law Enforcement rules and regulations (FDLE), Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission policies and procedures with emphasis on criminal justice education and officer minimum qualification standards; - Record of good judgment and problem-solving abilities;
- Mastery of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computing;
- Ability to work well with people and communicate effectively in pressure situations;
- Ability to maintain strict accuracy and confidentiality;
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented;
- Effective record keeping abilities;
- Possess strong leadership, motivational, and interpersonal skills;
