Are you ready to inspire the next generation of beauty professionals? Indian River State College is seeking a passionate Skincare & Nail Specialist to teach hands-on techniques in facials, manicures, and other essential salon services.

In this role, you’ll work directly with students in classroom and clinical settings—supervising salon activities, promoting industry best practices, and fostering a welcoming environment for all. You’ll help students build confidence and real-world skills while supporting an inclusive and professional learning atmosphere.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, this position provides hands-on instruction and evaluation of technical knowledge and trade skills. Work with a diverse student body and client base, fostering a culture of inclusion and cultural competence as an integral part of the IRSC team.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise student work in class and clinic, evaluate achievement of technical skills, and work with clients or students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Instruct students in facial treatments and other salon services, ensuring safety and quality standards.
  • Manage salon activities, ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive environment.
  • Support students and staff in cosmetology skills application.
  • Ensure attendance and preparedness for salon activities, report absences, and complete documentation.
  • Implement and oversee salon curriculum aligned with industry standards.
  • Maintain safety procedures and enforce best practices.

  • Exhibit professional conduct and foster positive relationships.
  • Uphold high ethical standards and adhere to college policies.
Cultural Competence
  • Collaborate effectively with diverse clients and staff.
  • Promote an inclusive, respectful salon atmosphere.

  • Follow schedules and tasks flexibly, adapt to program needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure program success.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
    Associate degree preferred.
  • At least two years of verifiable salon experience.
  • Valid Florida esthetics registration.
  • Graduation from a regionally-accredited cosmetology program.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and cosmetology skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, and work with chemicals.
  • Manual dexterity for operating equipment and demonstrating techniques.
  • Ability to travel for supplies and demonstrations.
