Here is your chance to start your full-time career as a Washington State employee and serve America s heroes with your medical expertise. We are accepting applications for a Full-Time, Permanent Licensed Practical Nurse 2 position at the Washington Veterans Home in Port Orchard, WA.
Please Note:
This recruitment is for Full-Time Permanent positions on varied shifts (Days, Evenings, and Nights) as available.
- Provide resident-centered care at the Washington Veterans Home in Port Orchard, ensuring a safe and healthy space, dignity, respect, and care tailored to each resident s needs.
- Assist and monitor residents with activities of daily living based on current nursing standards of practice.
- Prepare, carry out, evaluate, and revise treatment plans for individual residents based on observations and recommendations from physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Pass medications and administer, monitor, and record treatments; assess resident condition (including skin assessment) and promote resident participation in recreational activities.
- Suction patients, administer oxygen, catheterization, irrigation; administer IV solutions; colostomy and trach care; maintain gastric feeding tubes and pumps.
- Process physician orders; assist with routine rehabilitative and maintenance as needed.
- Other duties as appropriate to the role.
- Current Washington state practical nurse license or unencumbered practical nurse multistate license.
- Ability to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in the English language and be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Perform data entry, maintain confidentiality, provide a positive living environment for residents, follow written and verbal directions, and document and report observed changes in patient condition and behavior.
- Washington state practical nurse license preferred.
- Long-term care experience and/or one (1) year of experience as a practical nurse.
- Understanding of nursing and restorative care methods, personal hygiene and sanitation, recordkeeping, infection control, and client rights.
- Experience in assessing, evaluating, and participating in developing appropriate plans of care.
- Must pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000; information from the background check will be considered in determining suitability and competence.
- Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening as per policy 670.000.
- Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by safety standards; ability to wear respirator, gloves, gowns, eye protection, and other PPE as required.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs and reach a minimum of 36 inches; ability to push or pull, walk, sit, and bend as needed during the workday.
- Must maintain a valid practical nursing license from the State of Washington Department of Health.
- Must maintain regular and reliable attendance and be willing to work as needed.
- Must complete mandatory orientation and annual trainings within mandated time frames.
- Must comply with all WDVA policies, procedures, and applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements; sign confidentiality statement for all employees.
- Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver s license and be insured if driving a state-owned vehicle or a private vehicle on state business.
- Candidates offered employment must have work authorization that does not require employer sponsorship for a visa now or in the future.
