Overview
The City is creating an ongoing roster of candidates to fill Public Works Maintenance Technician positions. Submit your application to be considered for addition to the roster. Qualified applicants may be invited to participate in Public Works skills testing, and passing candidates may be invited to interview as vacancies become available. This position requires weekend work.

Compensation and BenefitsPay ranges from $35.48 to $42.37 per hour. The base pay range is $35.48 – $42.37. The City starts employees at the lower end of the salary range. This position is eligible for education pay. The pay range for an employee holding an Associate’s degree is $35.83 – $42.79 and for a Bachelor’s degree is $36.19 – $43.22. This position is eligible for bilingual pay for employees fluent in Spanish, Tagalog, Korean, or American Sign Language, with a premium range of $36.19 – $43.22.
Longevity pay adds 0.25% per year starting at year 5, with detailed projections available in the posting. Salary ranges may adjust based on the 2026 pay scale and qualifications (e.g., Bachelor’s degree, bilingual proficiency, longevity).
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. An HRA/VEBA account may be provided. Retirement benefits include a choice between PERS 2 or 3 and optional Deferred Compensation. City holidays and personal holidays are provided. Vacation leave accrues monthly, starting with 80 hours in the first year and increasing thereafter. Sick leave accrues at 8 hours per calendar month. MajorFunction and Purpose
This position coordinates and participates in the routine maintenance and construction of Public Works improvements for the City and assists management in planning new construction and maintenance projects.
General FunctionUnder the direction of the Supervisor and Leads, this position is responsible for the efficient and effective use of equipment, materials, and labor to complete maintenance and construction projects in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
Supervision ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervision responsibilities but may provide oversight to community service workers, volunteers, seasonal or temporary employees, and co-workers as directed. Tasks include coordinating field activities, ensuring projects are completed as scheduled, establishing work priorities, and participating in field activities.
Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis description reflects general details to describe principal functions and typical requirements. Duties are not all-inclusive. Follow any job-related instructions from the Director or designee and perform all assigned duties proficiently.
- Establish work priorities and adjust as needed with approval of Lead or Supervisor
- Inspect projects in progress and equipment for repairs and safety
- Make recommendations for equipment or modifications to existing equipment
- Train other employees in proper maintenance procedures and equipment operations as directed
- Ensure proper inventory levels of materials and parts for maintenance and repair
- Coordinate and participate in various activities, including but not limited to:
- Installing water, sewer, and stormwater pipe systems
- Repairing and maintaining water, street, parks, stormwater, sewer, and facility assets
- Patching, paving, and grading roads and walkways
- Constructing and repairing concrete sidewalks
- Performing street sweeping
- Vegetation control/pruning in City rights of way, stormwater ponds, and easements
- Troubleshooting SCADA/Telemetry for water/sewer facilities
