Kitsap Mental Health Services is looking for a passionate School‑Based Therapist to provide ongoing behavioral and therapeutic support to children enrolled in our program. If you are dedicated to improving the mental well‑being of young individuals and making a positive impact, we invite you to join our mission.
Primary Responsibilities- Meet with referred students to assess needs and make appropriate referrals (e.g., primary care doctor, outpatient counseling, wrap‑around intensive services, substance abuse treatment).
- Provide brief, crisis, and trauma intervention.
- Provide voluntary family, individual, and group counseling in‑school, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing as indicated.
- Collaborate with school district personnel to implement student support plans.
- Participate in interventions to encourage students to follow school expectations; identify issues that impede social and emotional behavior and assist in creating corrective plans.
- Partner with families of enrolled students, conduct family meetings, outreach, coordinate with other systems, and connect families to additional resources.
- Provide guidance or coaching to school faculty, including classroom observations, faculty presentations, and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Document client progress to maintain a permanent record according to policies and procedures.
- Education:
Master’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or a mental health field. - Experience:
Minimum 2 years of job‑related experience. - Driving:
Must have a valid Washington driver’s license, reliable insured transportation, and pass a motor vehicle history check. - Licensure:
Agency‑Affiliated Counselor (obtainable after hire).
- Experience:
Minimum 3 years of job‑related experience. - Business‑rated insurance may be required for outreach duties.
- Licensure:
Washington License (LICSW, LMFT, or LMHC).
