purpose statementthe job of para educator - title i is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for working with individual and/or small groups of students; implementing instructional goals, developing student’s learning setting, and evaluating student progress on learning objectives, and providing clerical support to teacher/s and staff.
this job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: supporting students by providing instruction to individual students and/or small groups in a variety of subject areas, settings and learning activities.
this job reports to principal.
essential functions- assists students, both individually and/or small groups, with lesson plans (e.g. Read stories, listen to students read, writing assistance, spelling practice, facilitate activities, computer learning programs, etc.) for the purpose of implementing learning plans to meet instructional goals and to evaluate student's progress in reaching academic goals and grade level standards;
- implements methods to best serve individual students academically and behaviorally under the supervision of certificated staff for the purpose of promoting student understanding of materials and concepts;
- maintains confidentiality at all times following hippa and ferpa for the purpose of adhering and in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines;
- monitors individual and/or groups of students in a classroom setting for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment;
- prepares and delivers instructions, under the supervision of certificated staff, for the purpose of providing instruction to individual students and/or small groups in a variety of subject areas, settings, and learning activities to meet academic standards in basic skills areas as identified by state, district, or other measurement tools;
- provides clerical and program support (e.g. Collecting and inputting data, correspondence, copying, filing, preparing, and organizing instructional materials, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and providing general support for the program related to learning goals and objectives for students;
- participates in a wide variety of meetings and trainings for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving employee's skills and knowledge;
- performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the classroom setting.
