About the Role:
The Pro Mechanical - Scaffold General Foreman plays a critical leadership role in overseeing all scaffolding operations within the oil and gas extraction and mining sectors at Pro Mechanical, FPC. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant erection, maintenance, and dismantling of scaffolding structures to support various industrial projects. The foreman will coordinate with project managers, safety officers, and scaffold crews to deliver high-quality scaffolding solutions that meet project timelines and regulatory standards.
A key outcome of this role is to maintain a safe working environment while optimizing resource allocation and workflow to enhance productivity. Ultimately, the Scaffold General Foreman ensures that all scaffolding activities contribute to the successful completion of complex industrial operations with zero incidents and minimal downtime.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in scaffolding or related fields is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in scaffolding within the oil and gas or mining industries, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Valid scaffold inspection and safety certifications (e.g., CISRS, OSHA Scaffold Competent Person).
- Strong knowledge of scaffolding standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple tasks, and communicate effectively on-site.
- Additional certifications in rigging, confined space entry, or heavy equipment operation.
- Experience with project management software and digital documentation tools.
- Familiarity with environmental and quality management systems relevant to industrial construction.
- Previous experience working in large-scale, multi-disciplinary industrial projects.
- Proven track record of implementing safety improvement initiatives and reducing incident rates.
- Supervise and direct scaffold crews in the assembly, modification, and dismantling of scaffolding systems according to project specifications and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement daily work plans, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of scaffolding activities.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce compliance with OSHA and company safety standards to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and safety personnel to resolve technical issues and optimize scaffolding designs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of scaffold inspections, personnel certifications, equipment usage, and incident reports.
- Train and mentor scaffold workers to enhance their skills, safety awareness, and adherence to best practices.
- Manage inventory of scaffolding materials and equipment, coordinating with procurement to ensure availability and maintenance.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations or unexpected challenges, adjusting plans to maintain project continuity.
The required skills enable the Scaffold General Foreman to effectively plan, organize, and supervise scaffolding operations while ensuring compliance with stringent safety standards. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for coordinating diverse teams and liaising with multiple stakeholders to maintain project alignment. Technical expertise in scaffolding design and inspection allows the foreman to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures proactively.
