General Responsibility and Function
The Lab Technician I is responsible for performing routine quality control testing on various products within our product line to ensure they meet established specifications and customer requirements. This position plays an important role in maintaining product integrity, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and upholding the company's quality standards. The Lab Technician I conducts laboratory tests according to procedures developed by the Research Director, accurately documents findings, and communicates results internally and externally as needed.
In addition to quality control responsibilities, this role supports Research and Development (R&D) projects and assists with preparing and shipping product samples to customers.
- Evaluate the quality of products by performing laboratory tests in accordance with written procedures and specifications established by the Research Director.
- Accurately record, analyze, and report test results in a timely manner.
- Prepare Certificates of Analysis (COAs) using Microsoft Word or Excel and distribute them to customers via Microsoft Outlook.
- Maintain organized and complete quality control records in compliance with the company’s quality management system.
- Ensure the laboratory work area remains clean, organized, and inspection-ready at all times.
- Follow all company safety policies, laboratory safety standards, and regulatory requirements while promoting a strong safety culture within the lab and plant.
- Assist with Research and Development projects by performing tests and experiments as directed by the Research Director.
- Package and ship product samples to customers, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
- Communicate any out-of-specification results, equipment concerns, or safety issues to management promptly.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support laboratory and plant operations.
- Operating Equipment:
Ability to safely operate laboratory instruments, tools, and related equipment required for testing and sample preparation. - Analysis and Reasoning:
Capable of interpreting data, identifying trends, and drawing accurate conclusions. - Attention to Detail:
Demonstrates precision and consistency in testing, documentation, and reporting. - Safety Focus:
Strict adherence to laboratory and plant safety procedures and regulatory standards. - Mathematical Reasoning:
Applies mathematical calculations to analyze test data and solve practical laboratory problems. - Problem Solving:
Effectively addresses routine and moderately complex technical challenges.
- Associate's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of one year of laboratory experience required.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field preferred.
