Position Summary

This position has the responsibility to promote the Allegan Area ESA brand along with a positive public image through both internal and external communications, employee and public relations, and marketing services. This position is responsible for the management of the Allegan Area ESA website, social media presence, news releases, and event planning.

Recommended Employment Qualifications

Education - This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in communications, public relations, marketing, human resources, or a related field.

Experience - This position requires a minimum of three to five years of previous successful professional experience in public relations, marketing, or advertising position; or related experience/training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Certificates, Licenses or Registrations - Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) preferred.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee marketing and promotion of Allegan Area ESA’s programs and services to maintain organizational standards, handle media features/promotions, provide a consistent social media presence, and develop materials and publications designed to build public confidence in education throughout the district.
  • Manage all aspects of the Allegan Area ESA website and social media, including updating and maintaining content. Regularly consult with website content editors. Collect metrics from website and social media interaction on a quarterly basis.
  • Manage the website notification system for all staff communications, such as district and/or building closings and delays.
  • Serve as the clearinghouse for all communications to media outlets. Develop a strong working relationship with newspapers, television, and radio.
