Campus Safety Monitor

Job Summary

The primary role of the Campus Safety Monitor is responsible to monitor students, faculty, staff and visitors using a closed‑circuit television system and act as a dispatcher when applicable. The Campus Safety Monitor acts as a security professional to monitor property, activate or deactivate alarm systems, provide information to guests and other individuals on campus, and monitor and report unusual circumstances.

Be a part of a dedicated team that prioritizes campus safety and community well‑being.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor closed television systems and fire and entry alarm systems, activating or deactivating them as needed.
  • Answer Campus Safety telephone calls and assist walk‑in traffic with information and directions.
  • Act as an office receptionist occasionally.
  • Log and distribute officer equipment, perform record checks, and dispatch officers for security checks, emergency situations, and various other circumstances.
  • Issue permits and  to campus employees.
  • Monitor weather conditions, make designated notifications, and make emergency notifications to the campus community when required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and Jenzabar.
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write basic reports and emails and communicate clearly with customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, or diagram instructions and solve routine problems using common sense.
