Material Expediter

Job Overview

Leidos is seeking a skilled and motivated Material Expediter to join our team at the Port Hueneme facility. The role is critical to shipping and receiving of material to and from Antarctica. The successful candidate must be able to stand for the entire shift, repeatedly lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks such as bending, stooping, kneeling, turning, and pivoting.

A valid forklift operator certification is required.

This position is on-site at the Leidos location in Port Hueneme, CA.

• Coordinate the shipping and receiving of inbound and outbound material or cargo from various customers/suppliers and locations in a timely manner.
• Verify contents of shipment and ensure the correct material or cargo delivered matches the requested items.
• Properly package material based on type and carrier restrictions, preparing cargo for loading into shipping containers, commercial trucks, or Air Force pallets and securing for shipment.
• Operate powered and non‑powered material handling equipment in conjunction with daily duties.
• Ensure cargo tracking systems are accurately updated after identification and packing of material or cargo and that actual dimensions are recorded.
• Stage material or cargo in the proper waiting area while awaiting transport via commercial air or surface.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with Material Expediting team members and Documentation team members.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices to promote a culture of safety awareness among the team.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3+) years of diversified experience in a warehousing environment, including shipping and receiving freight; experience in the transportation or supply industry is a plus.
• Experience loading cargo into containers for ocean shipment; hazardous material handling certification is a plus.
• Valid forklift operator certification, capable of operating forklifts up to 10k or higher.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• U.S. citizenship required due to contract requirements.
• Must obtain a Public Trust security clearance prior to start date (process may take up to 4 months).
• Possession of or ability to obtain a public trust or higher adjudication.

The position will work on site at the Leidos facility in Port Hueneme, CA. Our expected pay range for this role is $23–$28 per hour.
