Work Location:

Point Mugu, CA. Pay Info: $39.74/hour plus Health & Wellness Benefit ($6.50/hr through Union or $4.95/hr if all benefits declined).

(SA-TECH) is a DoD contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance (O&M), weapons testing, facilities management, aerial, ground and seaborne targets O&M, technical and engineering support, systems integration, electronics and communications maintenance, and growing cybersecurity services. SA-TECH operates ranges for the Army, Air Force and Navy. We support DoD programs with high-quality services and customer satisfaction.

At NBVC, SA-TECH performs maintenance for aerial and seaborne assets supporting weapon systems test and fleet training exercises. We manage the lifecycle of aerial and seaborne target assets, maintenance, recovery, inventory, and government-furnished facilities and equipment.

We are currently looking to hire a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic (GSEM) to diagnose, repair and maintain ground support equipment at our facilities at Naval Air Station Point Mugu, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses, repairs and maintains ground support equipment (GSE).
  • Advises and trains lower grade workers on diagnosis and repairs of less complex repair/maintenance problems.
  • Diagnoses all system components including electrical, electronics, and emissions related fault codes to repair or replace faulty parts as indicated by testing or visual observations.
  • Uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions.
  • Maintain external fuel and grounding systems (Other duties may include).
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications.
  • Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment.
  • Operate, clean, inspect and service GSE towing vehicles.
  • Work may involve cross-utilization into other positions within scope of work.
  • Work conditions: outdoor work; varying temperatures; shift hours vary by mission requirements.
  • Physical requirements:

    roughly 45% standing, 25% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, 5% lifting; capable of lifting 50–100 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to deploy CONUS and OCONUS, work all shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice to support test missions.
  • Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for tasks assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years’ experience repairing and maintaining one or a combination of the following: ground vehicles (track or wheeled), power-generation equipment, rotary- or fixed-wing aircraft, industrial mechanical equipment (pumps, conveyors, lifts, etc.), or military maintenance background (91, 88, 3521 or other Mechanical MOS).
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and software.
  • Experience working at a government facility is helpful but not required.
  • Forklift Operator license required.
  • Class A license preferred.
  • Current Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through the company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening including SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
