Overview
You will use data collected from a variety of cyber defense tools (for example IDS alerts, firewalls, and network traffic logs) to analyze events within environments to mitigate threats. You will investigate, analyze, and respond to cyber incidents within the network environment or enclave. You will analyze security related events to provide threat-based security assessments and initiate cyber-incident responses as warranted.
You may attend routine classified TS/SCI meetings and VTCs, which require access to TS/SCI materials, equipment, programs, facilities, or systems.
- Analyze events from cyber defense tools to mitigate threats.
- Investigate, analyze, and respond to cyber incidents within the network environment or enclave.
- Provide threat-based security assessments from security events and initiate cyber-incident responses as warranted.
- Oversee the performance of contract support staff as a quality evaluator and to perform task order management.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
- Within DoD, appointment of retired military members within 180 days after retirement is subject to 5 U.S.C. 3326.
- Selective Service registration for males born after 12-31-1959.
- Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- Cyberspace Workforce position (codes 511 and 531), proficiency level Intermediate; required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoD 8140.03 and Navy policies.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required; random testing may occur.
- Travel to CONUS/OCONUS or remote sites may be required; must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
- Complete training and obtain/maintain a government travel credit card for travel purchases.
- Experience should show at least one year of information technology-related work in federal service or equivalent, demonstrating:
Attention to Detail;
Customer Service;
Oral Communication; and Problem Solving. - Specialized experience at GS-12 level or pay band (or equivalent) including: system administration for IT/OT; analyzing computer utilization and system performance; recommending changes to system design and protection mechanisms; developing measures to protect information; designing AIS security policies and programs; and related competencies.
