Personal Financial Counselor, Assignment Ready Counselor – California

We are seeking a dedicated Personal Financial Counselor to provide financial counseling services for service members and their families at military installations. The role covers short‑term, surge, and on‑demand situations such as post‑deployment events.

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
• Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
• Coordinate, publicize, and provide a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes and workshops covering military lifecycle topics.
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication when authorized by the OSD FINRED Program Office.
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in individual and group supervision, sharing trends and issues on assigned installations.
• Participate in regular training, quality‑improvement committees, or other contract activities as appropriate.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree required. Associate degree plus 4 years of experience or high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may be considered.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizenship and fluent English; bilingual in English and Spanish may be required.
• Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Must hold one of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Estimated base salary range: $53,125 – $84,995. Short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package may also apply.
