Position: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager - PE/Gqeberha

PURPOSE:

Responsible for ensuring that an organization complies with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as implementing policies and procedures to prevent accidents and minimize environmental impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, and develop plans to prevent recurrence
  • Develop and provide training on HSE policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with management and employees to promote a safety culture
  • Maintain health and safety files for plants
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics
  • Review contractor HSE files
  • Ensure compliance with OHS Act, Environmental Legislation, and other relevant regulations
  • Manage and coordinate emergency response plans and procedures
  • Liaise with external parties, such as regulatory bodies and consultants
  • Work effectively with internal and external
    stakeholders, to accomplish organisational goals and identify and resolve
    problems

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in HSE management
  • Experience in a similar role in operations and maintenance for Solar PV power plants or Construction Site
  • Relevant certification, such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or ISO 45001
  • Strong knowledge of South African HSE regulations and standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze data and develop effective solutions
  • Registration with the South African Council for Project and Construction
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Knowledge of international HSE standards and best practices
  • Experience with auditing and management systems (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
  • Valid driver's license.
