Bechtel is among the most respected engineering, project management, and construction companies in the world. The Infrastructure Global Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine scopes of work on LNG projects. The candidate will serve as the Civil Wick Drain Superintendent on the Port Arthur LNG project. The work location is Port Arthur, TX. This position is contingent upon project award.
Port Arthur LNG, LLC (PALNG) is developing an LNG production and export facility on the Port Arthur Canal site in Jefferson County, Texas. The project base scope includes two LNG trains, two LNG storage tanks, one LNG carrier berth, and associated utilities/facilities.
Project is located on State Highway 87 south of Port Arthur, Texas, between the inner coastal waterway bridge and Keith Lake.
Job SummaryServes as liaison at the project site between Project Procurement for reporting undelivered materials, Field Procurement for stored materials, and Construction personnel for accurate reporting of materials required for work package installation. Coordinates with responsible groups to ensure materials are provided timely and in sufficient quantity to support construction. Ensures accurate distribution of materials to Construction and/or (Sub) Contractor installation locations.
Implements planned inventory control mechanisms, assists in identifying surplus or unused materials, and coordinates material availability to support design revisions or rework.
- Leads a team of Material Coordination personnel on a large project
- Provides expertise and direction for project and field materials management activities to ensure organizational effectiveness across all materials management functions
- Communicates material availability to project stakeholders based on the Construction installation sequence and ensures efficiency of all materials issued to Construction
- Utilizes the Materials Automation Plan to monitor data transfers among disciplines and related systems
- Understands the project Advance Work Packaging plan and ensures material information is available and accurate
- Assists Construction, Field Engineering, and/or Subcontractors with Digital Supply Chain to request required materials to meet the Construction schedule
- Coordinates material availability in support of design revisions, rework, contingency, or workaround plans
- Participates in Construction and/or Subcontractor planning meetings to align with installation work package schedule and priorities
- Coordinates with warehouse personnel for materials issued per installation work package schedule
- Supports Construction and Project Controls when developing Installation Work Package sequence by providing material availability data using the Digital Supply Chain System (MAP)
- Liaises between Construction and Field Engineering to ensure short items are ordered in time to meet the Construction schedule
- Works with Engineering and Quality Assurance to develop the project preservation procedure and schedule
- Develops project workhour estimates and monitors against approved budgets
- Makes technical presentations to Customer and Bechtel senior management
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
- Knowledge of project Procurement operations related to materials acquisition or Engineering discipline within the area of responsibility; basic knowledge of the other
- Knowledge in the use of systems such as the Digital Supply Chain System (DSCS) and Site Sense
- Knowledge of vendor, fabricator, contractor, Customer and other outside data systems and how those systems interact
