Position: Court Clerk I - Superior Court (Open Until Filled)

Clallam County is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled professional to join our team in a key courtroom support role. Under the general direction of the Department Head or designated staff, this position performs a broad range of responsibilities essential to the accuracy and integrity of Juvenile and Family Court or Superior Court records. You will be responsible for creating and preparing written records of court events, producing clear and precise minutes, safeguarding exhibits, maintaining official records, administering oaths, and reading verdicts.

The role also includes operating audio and video equipment to support the smooth flow of courtroom proceedings. Some positions may require bilingual skills in Spanish and English to effectively serve the community. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the center of court operations, supporting judges, attorneys, and the public in a fast-paced and highly professional environment.

NOTE:

  • Produce accurate, detailed minutes for all court proceedings
  • Identify, number and keep all court exhibits safe
  • Prepare and/or process documents and orders for signing, filing and including in court files
  • Maintain official court witness records of all who appear in court
  • Perform all jury-related functions including administering oaths, reading verdicts and polling juries
  • Perform specific audio and video functions
  • Follow courtroom procedures and instructions to maintain a smooth and routine court
  • Perform backup Bailiff duties while performing primary clerical duties, as required
  • Take custody of and store guns, knives, narcotics, cash, jewelry, clothing and other materials used as evidence
  • Handle multiple-step transactions such as receiving and/or issuing receipts, forms, cash and documents
  • Interpret and translate English-Spanish
  • Meet attendance standards necessary for successful job performance

Requires knowledge of the field of assignment sufficient to perform thoroughly and accurately the full scope of responsibility as illustrated above.

Education/Training

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); prior experience and/or training preferred. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have computer knowledge and ability.
