• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Bakery/Deli Clerk should offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Use all equipment in the bakery such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes using various utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store layout and locate products on request.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads and gain product knowledge to respond to questions and make suggestions.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates; create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; comply with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notify management of repairs needed.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
