Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity within child and adolescent psychiatry? We are looking for a CAMHS Consultant to join our Poole team.

As the Consultant you will provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team, alongside a clinical service manager, team leads and consultant colleagues. Medical leadership is valued within the team and there is recognition that effective leadership improves all aspects of a service. The clinical role involves leading the team in providing effective assessment and treatment services for patients aged up to 18 years.

All referrals to community CAMHS are screened and assessed by the Gateway team before being passed on to Specialist CAMHS if appropriate. As a senior professional, your role will naturally include activities supporting both direct clinical contacts and service delivery.

• Lead the Poole core CAMHS team alongside a specialist doctor and a well-resourced multidisciplinary team (allied health professionals, specialists, core trainees and non-medical prescribers) to provide comprehensive community-based services for young people up to age 18 registered with a GP in the area.
• Work as part of an outreach focused multi-disciplinary mental health team and collaborate with colleagues from Social Services, Education, and health colleagues in other Trusts.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary case conferences and reviews as required by clients' clinical needs and the Trust's operational policies.
• Engage in activities including policy development, quality improvement initiatives, teaching, appraising colleagues, line management or other nominated roles.
• A job plan will be developed by the Medical Lead for CAMHS with you and reviewed annually.
• Ensure secretarial support and adequate administration time is available to facilitate timely circulation of written communications with clinicians, referrers and patients.
• Maintain Section 12 (2) status and be an Approved Clinician.

• Current registration as a medical practitioner.
• Maintainment of Section 12 (2) and status as an Approved Clinician is essential.

• This post attracts an Enhanced Recruitment and Retention payment of £20,000, paid as two lump sums (£10,000 on appointment and £10,000 on the anniversary of the start date). Both payments are subject to deductions at source.
• Relocation package of up to £10,000 if you are moving to Dorset.
