Do you thrive in a role that combines on-site customer support with in-house engineering, assembly, and testing?
An established engineering organisation is looking for a skilled and motivated Field Service & Calibration Engineer to join a small, highly capable technical team.
This role offers a mix of field-based service and workshop activity, supporting special-purpose machinery for customers across the UK, Ireland, and occasionally overseas.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out service, maintenance, and calibration of equipment at customer premises and internally at the company’s engineering facility
* Perform on-site commissioning of machines at customer locations when required
* Travel extensively throughout the UK and Ireland, with occasional international travel as business needs dictate
* Respond to service and customer support requirements, sometimes at very short notice
* Assemble, repair, and maintain ultrasonic and non-ultrasonic machinery
* Support machine builds, including standard equipment and special-purpose machinery, as required
* Carry out repairs, fault-finding, and functional testing of equipment prior to despatch
* Ensure all equipment meets required quality, safety, and performance standards
* Liaise directly with customers to diagnose technical issues, provide solutions, and offer professional technical support
* Work collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, contributing proactively to shared goals and workloads
Required
Skills & Experience:
* Strong practical understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
* Proven experience in a field service, maintenance, or commissioning role within an engineering or manufacturing environment
* Ability to assemble, fault-find, and repair complex machinery
* Experience working with special-purpose or automated machinery is highly desirable
* Comfortable working independently at customer sites while maintaining excellent communication with internal teams
* Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical and safety-conscious approach
* Willingness to travel frequently and adapt to changing schedules
* Confident communicator, capable of discussing technical matters directly with customers
* A proactive, flexible, and team-oriented mindset is essential
