Locum Consultant Breast Surgeon

Overview

Applications are invited for the position of a full time Locum Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon to work in the established Breast, Endocrine, Skin and Sarcoma Unit at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) NHS Foundation Trust, the product of merger between Poole, the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals. The appointee will be required to deliver a comprehensive specialist breast surgical service across both hospital sites.

This is a locum full time post which has become vacant due to retirement and attracts 10 Programmed Activities per week. The successful candidate will work within a team of 7 dual specialty surgeons. UHD is the designated Cancer Centre for Dorset and hosts the Dorset Breast Screening Service. The breast unit provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic breast services and treats over 700 new breast cancers per year.

The Breast Unit is recognised for its contribution to national and international clinical trials and is supported by a team of dedicated breast research nurses.

The well-established multidisciplinary team includes Consultant Clinical and Medical Oncologists, dedicated specialist radiology (including nuclear medicine), histopathology and specialist CNS services. Delivery of the diagnostic and surgical breast service is supported by a team of 4 advanced nurse practitioners and a Specialty Doctor.
