The Role

The Project Engineer will support the Senior Project Engineer in providing technical and engineering expertise to provide robust engineering governance across Transport for Wales' (TfW) projects.

Role responsibilities
  • Support engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle by providing support to deliverables, to ensure the project satisfies engineering requirements, performance and reliability targets.
  • Deliver high value infrastructure projects by supporting the development of deliverables in a timely manner to ensure the project is within the constraints of time, cost and quality.
  • Review project deliverables by collaborating with the design team on project specifics to ensure there is adherence to standards and procedures in line with the TfW operating model
  • Support in the development of Engineering Management Plans for each project by inputting engineering governance structure requirements and to ensure revisions at each project stage are at the appropriate levels of engineering governance
  • Provide the correct level of engineering assurance to the project by supporting the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor to ensure client requirements are being met
  • Be a technical representative within the Client organisation by supporting value engineering exercises, ensuring sustainability legislation is being addressed, and to ensure interoperability regulation is being satisfied
  • Source labour and materials through sustainable suppliers to satisfy the requirements of the Future Generations Act.
  • Support the controlled transfer of assets from the Project Team to the Infrastructure Owner/Manager by following commissioning, hand back process to achieve entry into service.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practice by staying abreast of regulatory changes to ensure professional currency and lessons learned from all stakeholders is imparted to projects.
Who we're looking for
  • Degree in an engineering discipline i.e Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
  • Working towards membership of a relevant professional body i.e ICE, IET, IMechE
  • Experience of working on the delivery of engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of the key roles under CDM and how they influence project activities.
  • Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively, with a focus on building networks and improving overall service delivery.
  • Experience of setting up new processes, ways of working and embedding effective change.
Welsh Language Skills

While not essential for this role, Welsh language skills would make a great addition to your application.
