Applications Engineer

Location: Nantgarw

We are looking for an Applications Development Engineer who knows how to make things work.

This is a hands-on role in a laser-based engineering environment. You will work across mechanical systems, electronics, optics and software. You do not need to be an expert in all areas, but you must be confident moving between them.

If you enjoy solving problems properly, building prototypes, testing ideas, and turning concepts into reliable processes, this role will suit you.

What you’ll be doing

* Develop and refine manufacturing processes for new and existing customers

* Build and test prototypes to prove concepts

* Analyse results and improve designs through practical experimentation

* Work closely with engineering to deliver manufacturable solutions

* Support customer trials and technical discussions

* Create clear specifications, documentation and process instructions

* Contribute to continuous improvement across engineering and manufacturing

This role combines research, experimentation, practical build work and documentation. It is not purely desk-based and not purely production — it sits between the two.

Work Environment

* You will work across office, lab and production areas. The role involves practical machine interaction and testing as well as documentation and analysis.

This is an on-site role (no working from home). Occasional overtime may be needed, and very rare weekend work, for time-critical customer trials
