JDR Recruitment are currently looking for reliable and hard-working Brick Cutting Operatives to join our client's team based in Pontypool
. This is a great opportunity for long-term work with the potential to go permanent.
Responsible for setting, operating and day-to-day maintenance of brick cutting machines and effective brick cutting processes, through manual or mechanical means and operating an effective and safe brick bonding process. Working as part of a team to achieve daily output targets and contributing towards maximising profitability and growth in line with company vision and values. Optimise effective plans and processes to produce the right quality, quantity and timely results.
Represent the department in areas of productivity, health & safety, quality, maintenance and storage.
- Achieve the required daily targets set by the Team Leader.
- Contribute towards the continuous improvement of the Company by communicating areas for process improvement.
- Responsible for carrying out relevant safety working area and machine checks at the start of each shift
- Responsible for producing quality products, safely and to timescales set by the Team Leader.
- Responsible for ensuring sufficient stock of raw materials, consumables and essential spare parts and reporting low levels to Team Leader.
- Responsible for checking working progress to brick type, customer specification, engineering drawings and job sheets.
- Responsible for producing work to quality standards and signing relevant job sheets for QA purposes.
- Responsible for mixing glue according to manufacture recommendations and pigment to achieve colour match.

- Responsible for completing all paperwork clearly and on time.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records relating to production output, mechanical repairs and breakdown.
- Report to Team Leader jobs which are near completion
- Assist other cutting/bonding team members as required and build good working relationships with all members of staff.
- Ensure all jobs are labelled clearly at all times.
- Leads by example in Health & Safety practices and standards, including housekeeping of working area and stockyard. Ensure PPE is worn at all times.
- Responsible for mechanical and manual handling devices, to ensure good working order and defects are reported to the Team Leader.
- Responsible for ensuring equipment is stored in the correct place and that daily maintenance and cleaning disciplines/ rota's are completed.
- Participates in staff meetings, working groups, training programmes and periodic departmental risk assessments.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
