Trainee Accountant
Location:
Pontyclun
Hours: Fully office-based, Monday to Friday, 36.5 hours per week
Salary: £26,500 per annum plus full AAT / ACCA study support
Môrwell Talent Solutions is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an established and highly respected business in its search for a motivated Trainee Accountant to join its growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to build a long-term career in accountancy while studying towards a professional qualification alongside full-time employment.
The role offers broad exposure across a diverse group of businesses, providing hands-on experience in core accounting functions and developing strong commercial awareness. You will be supported by an experienced finance team with a proven track record of developing and promoting talent internally.
Key Responsibilities- The successful candidate will provide support across all areas of the finance function, including but not limited to:
- Preparation of departmental and site-level accounts
- Posting and preparation of month-end journals (including accruals and cost of sales)
- Assisting with month-end stock reporting
- Preparation and reconciliation of intercompany balances
- Processing and review of purchase ledger invoices
- Auditing purchase ledger payment runs and bank detail checks
- Nominal ledger analysis and investigation of variances
- Preparation of VAT schedules
- Accounting and administration relating to imports
- Posting and reconciliation of credit card statements
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management information packs
- Assisting with bank payments and cash flow administration
- Supporting finance-related customer queries and administration
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting models in Excel
- Ad-hoc reporting, reconciliations and general finance administration as required
- Basic accounting knowledge and sound double-entry understanding (advantageous)
- Strong Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, proactive and confident working on own initiative
- Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines
- Eager to learn with a positive, hands-on attitude
- Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Full AAT or ACCA study support, including tuition, exams and study materials fully funded after successful completion of a probationary period
