Manpower is recruiting a Welsh Speaking Switchboard Operator on behalf of our public sector client.
Location: Pontyclun
Contract: Temporary
Duration: 3-6 months
Hours:
30 hours per week. Shifts are 12 hours in duration. You will work three shifts across a seven day rota, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.
Pay Rates:
Weekdays £12.70 per hour
Saturdays and nights £17.91 per hour
Sundays and Bank Holidays £23.24 per hour
The Role
You will be the first point of contact, providing a responsive and professional switchboard and information service on a 24 hour basis. This is a fast paced role where remaining calm, using sound judgement and adapting quickly are essential to keeping services running smoothly. Training will be provided through a structured shadowing period before you move onto the main rota.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide an efficient switchboard and information service
- Follow departmental policies and procedures
- Develop a strong understanding of the organisation, its departments and key medical terminology
- Respond promptly to medical emergency calls and activate the appropriate procedures
- Manage alarms and major incident alerts in line with reporting processes
- Interpret and manage complex on call rotas for medical and non medical staff
- Keep on call sheets and notice boards accurate and up to date
Requirements
- Welsh language skills at Level 3 is essential

You must be able to communicate confidently in Welsh, including speaking and understanding the language in a work setting, handling telephone conversations and responding appropriately in urgent or sensitive situations - Previous experience of working in a call centre or customer service role is essential
- Strong communication skills with a confident telephone manner
- Good judgement and awareness of urgent situations
- Empathy and a calm approach in challenging circumstances
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Resilience and problem solving skills under pressure
- Ability to work day and night shifts
