POSITION PURPOSE

Functions as the General Manager responsible for the oversight and coordination of the day-to-day operations of the Regional Health Ministry's (RHM) Food & Nutrition Services (FANS) Department in a large or sizeable multi-hospital setting. The Senior Manager of Food & Nutrition Services coordinates and directs all activities within the department in a multi-site or health system environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Incorporates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors and supports senior leadership decisions, goals, objectives, and strategies.
  • Oversees day-to-day management of the RHM's FANS Department and ensures program service and support objectives are met; fosters a work environment with positive energy, creativity, and teamwork across functional areas.
  • Provides operational and technical support to RHM stakeholders, managers, and System Office; develops, implements, and coordinates standardization of policies and procedures related to FANS operations and expense management.
  • Manages short- and long-term regional financial objectives; drives initiatives with RHM teams to achieve program operating excellence; maintains fiduciary responsibility for monthly FANS program P&L and participates in budget reviews.
  • Keeps the Regional Manager, THS, and RHM stakeholders informed of issues affecting costs, service capabilities, and program performance; presents findings and recommendations for improvement.
  • Leads talent development: interviews, hires, trains, appraises, counsels, and supervises staff; reviews expense reports and ensures adherence to THS policies; supports diversity and career growth.
  • Monitors annual performance appraisals; fosters open dialogue, defines objectives and measurables, and addresses issues to improve operations and reduce recurring problems.
  • Develops and administers program quality evaluations and reviews customer satisfaction; implements Performance Improvement Plans as needed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local laws and Trinity Health policies; ensures all departmental operations support patient and customer satisfaction and safety.
  • Ensures pricing reviews, cash handling controls, and accurate nutrient analyses; reviews menus (patient and retail) annually and updates as needed.
  • Plans, approves, and executes catered functions per policy; tracks and bills event costs appropriately.
  • Maintains safe working conditions to minimize injuries; supports modified diets and appropriate food production direction.
  • Maintains accurate records and demonstrates effective time management and prioritization; may handle additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA or BS degree preferred in institutional management, dietetics, or equivalent; minimum five years progressive experience in dietetics or healthcare food service management; or an equivalent combination (e.g., CDM certification and 7–10 years management experience).
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, collaborative, team-oriented culture.
  • Ability to develop data collection methodologies, audit processes, monitor quality, identify root causes, and suggest improvements.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, organizational, planning, delegation, coaching, communication, and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); continuous improvement mindset.
  • Honesty, integrity, and caring; ability to inspire and promote Trinity Health mission and values.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, manage multiple priorities, and delegate with regular follow-up.

PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Works in a well-lit, well-ventilated area; exposure to typical food service conditions such as noise, heat, and humidity.
