General Summary
S37.42-$50.13/hr hybrid-North Oakland Health Center. Program Coordinator – Public Environmental Health. Oakland County Government – Health Division. Lead Programs That Protect Community Health. Oakland County Health Division is seeking an experienced and collaborative Program Coordinator to lead and evaluate the Oakland County Inland Beach Monitoring program. This role combines program leadership, staff supervision, data-driven decision-making, and community collaboration within a dynamic public health environment.
This position is ideal for a public health professional who enjoys leading teams, improving systems, and ensuring programs deliver measurable, high-quality outcomes.
What You’ll DoUnder direction, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and evaluation of the Inland Beach Monitoring program while supervising staff, collaborating internally, and with community partners.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate environmental health programs and services
- Supervise a team of professional, paraprofessional, and clerical staff, including: assigning and scheduling work; evaluating performance and supporting staff development; recommending hiring, promotions, discipline, and corrective actions
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to assess program effectiveness, efficiency, and community impact
- Recommend and help implement program policies, procedures, and directives
- Ensure accurate maintenance of program records, reports, and required documentation
- Participate in program budgeting and monitoring expenditures
- Assist with in-service training, staff education, and development of educational materials
- Design and support pilot programs or research initiatives to address emerging environmental health needs
- Perform program duties during staff absences and complete related duties as assigned
- Utilize Countywide and department-specific software to manage data and reporting

Required Minimum Qualifications – Within the General Classification:
Possess a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Behavioral Sciences, or a closely related field of study, AND have at least two (2) years of full-time experience in management/administration, health education, nursing, nutrition, communicable diseases or environmental health; OR Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Behavioral Sciences, or a closely related field of study, AND have at least three (3) years of full-time professional experience in one of the areas listed above.
