Overview
Oversees the daily operations of the Jr. Lifeguard Program, ensuring full compliance with U.S. Lifesaving Association (USLA) standards and guidelines. Serves as the primary liaison between USLA and the City of Pompano Beach while providing leadership, program coordination, and operational support for all Jr. Lifeguard activities, camps, and competitions.
Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Jr. Lifeguard Program in accordance with USLA standards and guidelines
- Serve as the designated liaison between the U.S. Lifesaving Association (USLA) and the City of Pompano Beach
- Attend and participate in all Jr. Lifeguard–related meetings
- Provide oversight and supervision of Jr. Lifeguard staff
- Develop and implement lesson plans for each Jr. Lifeguard Camp session
- Coordinate with Jr. Lifeguard Camp Coordinators to direct daily activities and programming on the public beach
- Assist in the operation and coordination of State, Regional, and National Jr. Lifeguard competitions
- Prepare and submit weekly program reports
- Perform related duties as required
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years
- Ability to pass an FDLE Level II criminal Background Check and fingerprinting
- Run (300 meters) - Swim (300 meters) - Run (300 meters). Or have completed three (3) summer sessions of Pompano Beach Jr. Lifeguard Camp within the last three years of hire, or are currently employed by a USLA-certified agency.
- Minimum of three (3) years of part-time beach lifeguarding experience OR
- Three (3) consecutive summers serving as a Pompano Beach Junior Lifeguard Coordinator
- Current Lifeguard Certification from the American Red Cross, United States Lifesaving Association (USLA), or equivalent
- Current American Red Cross certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Strong safety awareness with the ability to supervise and protect students in a variety of situations
- Effective communication and situational awareness in a dynamic outdoor environment
- Ability to run, walk, bend, kneel, carry, and lift up to 45 pounds
- Ability to hear, speak, see, and read clearly
- Ability to work outdoors under all weather conditions

During the summer months, the Summer Program hours will be Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
