The Mechanic IV operates independently with minimal supervision, applying advanced knowledge in repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial laundry and related equipment. The role requires diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding machinery, interpreting equipment blueprints and operational principles, and conducting preventive maintenance, inspections, and detailed work records.

• Troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and system malfunctions with minimal downtime.
• Fine‑tune automated systems to meet production efficiency and quality standards.
• Demonstrate leadership and supervise maintenance productivity on the plant floor.
• Mentor and train mechanics in both hands‑on and classroom settings.
• Plan and layout projects, including equipment installation and related requirements, and make value‑driven recommendations.
• Conduct high‑quality work within the plant preventive maintenance program.
• Submit parts requests by locating parts in the manufacturer’s parts book, parts room, or online.
• Maintain and improve plant and equipment to “show plant” specifications.
• Operate machine and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
• Perform major welding, plumbing, and project work.
• Serve as team leader in his/her absence.
• Assist coworkers in completing any laundry tasks.
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

• Preferably five or more years of experience or equivalent training in industrial/commercial laundry equipment repair and maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificates of completion for boiler, compressor, ironing line, and tunnel washer automated systems training.
• Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Independently install, troubleshoot, analyze, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatically operated equipment.
• Read and interpret equipment and site blueprints for rapid failure recovery.
• Use power tools, scissor/lifts, hand trucks, and forklifts.
• Utilize high‑level diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions.
• Competent gas, ARC, and MIG welder.
• Operate all machinery and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
• Effectively lift and handle objects weighing up to 60 pounds.

Inside work is weather protected, whereas outside work offers no effective weather protection. The job may involve frequent exposure to extreme heat, cold, vibration, noise, moving parts, electricity, gas, scaffolding, chemicals, and other hazards. Physical demands include standing, walking, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.
